Htel Biron was purchased by the French government in 1905. Rodin rented the ground floor in 1908, creating his sculpture there. Today the museum contains many works by Monet, Renoir, and Van Gogh, all from Rodin's personal collection. Rodin worked for 37 years on The Gates of Hell, from which emanated such works as The Thinker and The Kiss.
